Special : 28 by 28 List ( April 2013 Review )

Alhamdullilah

I  have managed to strike off an item from my 28 by 28 list. The first being  item number 8; $20,000 in savings. As of today, I have slightly above the stated amount. The only issue at the moment is whether or not to transfer it to a fixed deposit account; what if I need it for some emergency occurrences and I’m not allowed to withdraw from the funds. The scary part is that now I find it tougher to push myself to save up even further. My mind kept telling me that it is okay to spend since I have some savings. Fact is, 20k is nothing! Planning a wedding reception? 20k gone. Signing up for a degree? 20k gone.

I need to have an aim for saving up even further so as to motivate myself to do so.

How do you do it?

Cheap Finds : Cotton On Verse Long Sleeve Top

Scorching sun, skin tanning weather is here! I can safely push sweaters and knitwear to the back of the wardrobe unless I need it for late night grocery shopping date at Mustafa Centre again ( more of that another day).

To beat the heat, I opt for chiffon tops for its cooling nature. The only downside is that most tops tends to be translucent and thus requires me to pre-layer it with a cotton t shirt. But since cotton absorbs moisture, it helps in minimizing; if not totally preventing, sweat marks! Boo to unsightly pits marks.

$10 only! Down from $24.95. Not quite a fan of the print but hey I adore back buttons!

Cheap Finds : Loreal Paris Smooth Intense Set

The set consist of 350ml shampoo, 180ml conditioner and the anti-frizz serum and a Phillips hairdryer. The serum itself retails for $17.90 so this is definitely a bargain! There is 2 other range; black bottle for anti hair fall and pearl white botle for brittle hair. Available at Watsons Ion.

Beauty : Brands Innershine Marine Collagen Essence Strip

I used to religiously consume Meiji Collagen powder until the huge price jump from $45 a can to its current price of $65. While it does help with plumping up the skin, the other benefits included reduced in joint pains and bodyaches. I’ve tried other pill/tablet version but it just doesnt cut it for me.

So when I came across Brands Innershine Marine Collagen Strip trial pack, I figured I could just try it. Priced at $9.90, it contains 3 strips. It is a grape flavoured jelly-like texture; slightly sourish with a hint of fishy taste.

In the long run, the strip is definitely not as economical as one is expected to consume 3 strips per day for optimum results. However, fret not, this product also comes in its tablet form costing way cheaper.

Just Saying : Mitju Warehouse Sale 2013

Another year has gone by though it felt just like yesterday when I attended the 2012 sale.

So see you there!

Beauty : SK-II Facial (Treatment Essence, Treatment Lotion, Cellumination Essence EX)

This is a definite big purchase. I had intended to purchase the special Christmas set but kept holding myself back. So yesterday, once my brother landed and updated the price at DFS, I called and told him to proceed with the purchase despite him shouting ‘SO EXPENSIVE’. Image
So here’s to good skin and eating dirt and dust for the next 3 months.

What I Wear : Super Sunday

Here I am at the aiport, people watching whilst waiting for the newly wed’s flight from Cairo, Egypt to land. People with tons of luggages passing by. Wanderlust. Wanderlust. I’m super charged up as I will be getting my SK-II fix from Terminal 1 Duty Free Shop via my brother. Meanwhile, here’s what I’m wearing

Cheap Finds : Printed Blazer

A friend pointed out the sale sign during a stroll at the mall and before we know it, we paid for a blazer each. Hers was in peach while I picked the printed ones. This Cotton On blazer is a steal at just $10!

What I Wear : Wedding in JB

Despite staying for just a few hours at the reception (almost kampung-like with a huge array of food) the wedding felt like a mini getaway. A respite from the hustle and bustle of Singapore’s pace of life. The lack of connectivity (4G, wi-fi et al) was like a fresh breathe of air. I just sat on the swing to pass time, people watch, looking at banana and papaya tree and got a good fright when the rooster went cock a doodle do in the middle of the day and then the day was gone. The best part was meeting up with relatives whom I’ve not met in a very time. The last time I came for a stay over visit was when I was 9 and had made plans to smuggle a life chick back by insisting that my cousin, who managed to catch hold of the chick, to place it in a plastic bag. Life was just a life to live, none to worry about living.

Before I turn all so nostalgic, here’s what I wore to the wedding. The same skirt as I wore to my brother’s wedding with a chiffon dress from Dorothy Perkins. I ditched the heels for Charles & Keith flats and gladly did so for I am not willing to fall face first onto the uneven, puddle prone drive way.
